*Feeling very organized*

You might think I am nuts (if you didn't suspect it already) but I just finished my Christmas shopping and I am feeling very organized. Ever since I discovered Etsy I have tried to buy everything handmade whenever I can.

There are loads of bonuses to doing it this way:
1) I get something that is genuinely made with love and often completely unique
2) I am supporting other artists like myself and being kind to the environment
3) I spend a LOT less than if I went into the city to shop
4) No more struggling through the city crowds, I can shop, listen to the radio and drink tea at the same time!

The reason I buy so early is that I know how MAD the Christmas rush is on sellers (I will also be pulling out my hair trying to get all the orders finished in November/December!) so I avoid all of that by shopping in the end of August. Also, I want to make sure that everything has plenty of time to arrive with me in Holland, as I buy from all over the world. If something goes wrong with the shipping I have loads of time to sort it out with the seller.

If you are planning on shopping at The House of Mouse this Christmas, I encourage you to buy early too, especially if you are outside Europe because sometimes customs delay packages around the holidays. I am anticipating a lot of orders, and once November comes around I will not be doing any custom mice until after the Christmas rush. Please order early to avoid disappointment!

NEW - Yorrick the Mouse Skeleton

Alas, poor Yorrick the Mouse is dead. Now all that remains are some old bones. Will you take pity and give him proper resting place on your shelf or by your computer? He may just be bones, but he still has lots of love and cuteness to share. I particularly love his little beaded spine and tail!

New - Gwendolyn the Witch Mouse

I have finally had time to make some new mice! It has been wonderful to let the creative juices flow again and make some new designs. With Halloween slowly creeping up on us again (watch out, it's behind you!) and because I love making scary/monster mice, I have made 3 new Halloween designs so far this week.

Here is the first one: Gwendolyn the Witch Mouse, I hope you enjoy her!

Gwendolyn is an evil Witch! She will cast a spell on you and turn you into a toad. She has olive green color skin and 2 dark green hairy warts on her face, and yet she still manages to be cute. Perhaps it is a spell she cast on herself? She comes with a black cloak, pointy hat and broomstick. The perfect addition to your Halloween decorations.

It's official, I have pregnancy brain!

I should tell you all a funny story. For those of you who have not had kids, there is a thing that happens to you while you are pregnant: You get really forgetful and absent minded, which some people call "baby brain" or "goo-goo brain". I was already pretty bad at remembering things as I am dyslexic, but now things are getting beyond silly:

I just got back from a hours drive to Haarlem to get some supplies, only to find that I had forgotten the most vital thing I needed.

Last night I was convinced there were only 30 minutes in an hour.

And yesterday afternoon I couldn't find my keys; after a panic my husband found them in the fridge!

*shakes head in despair*

My mice on a wedding cake

I love it when my customers send me photos of my mice in their new homes, especially on wedding cakes! Thank you so much to Ami for giving me permission to share these photos on my blog.

We're PREGNANT!!

I have some wonderful news. We have reached 3 months so I can finally tell the world: We are PREGNANT with out first child!! Due in February. We are both soooo excited and very, very happy :)

This scan was done at around 9 weeks, so baby still looks very blob-like. The nurse said everything looks perfect - 2 arms, 2 legs, and everything in the right place - He or she has been growing like crazy the last month and I am just beginning to feel a bump. The first trimester has not been too hard on Mommy-to-be, something I am very thankful for! Being a Mom is something I have always wanted, I can't wait to meet him or her (we won't be able to find out the sex until our next scan in a month or so)
