Meet Amy Pond Mouse!

This sassy, flame-haired young Scot is the cheeky companion of The Doctor Mouse. He whiskered (!) her away the night before her wedding day to travel with him through time and space. She has a taste for the wild side and, although her heart lies with her fiancee Rory, she does have a weak spot for little Matt Smith Mouse.

Doctor Who in Watercolours

Naomi and I are working on writing a set of children's books featuring the little mice from our store. As I would love to illustrate the books myself I have been teaching myself watercolours (I have only worked in Oils in the past) Instead of keep all my paintings in a sketchbook I thought you might enjoy the chance to own some of my original paintings, which - if the books should become popular - might be worth a bit in a few years time. So I am listing them in our shop

This little guy is my first attempt at a proper watercolour painting, so he's a bit special - I picked the Doctor Who mouse to paint because I have an incurable crush on David Tennant, and this little guy is almost as cute as the actor he represents. We're Baaaaaaack!! (and for a while there we weren't sure we would be)

After a lovely and restful holiday, Naomi and I were raring to get started again!

Unfortunately the Dutch Postal company that I use had other ideas. They have increased their shipping prices by up to as much as 70% on January 1st 2011 (not a very nice New Years present). Effectively making it impossible for me to ship small packages of mice from here in Holland, as very few people would want to pay $22.50 to ship one little mouse. We thought we were doomed (well, I did. Naomi is much better at being positive!). Especially after talking to the other postal services and discovering their prices are even worse.

Finally we found a solution. From now on I will ship my stock in large batches to Naomi, who lives in the UK. She will then mail out the mice when the orders are made.

This does mean that we will no longer be able to make orders as they come in, as some designs only I can make. We will have to wait until the stock is made and is in the UK before we can list them, which is a shame. But it does mean that shipping prices for you - our customers - have actually gone down as British Royal Mail prices are much more reasonable.

Naomi and I have plans for New Things this year that would not be affected by shipping costs. So we are taking this ridiculous shipping cost increase as a sign we need to focus even more on our new direction.

In Holland, at the stroke of midnight on New Years, everyone sets of Fireworks. You can see them in every direction for hours. Declan loved watching them for the first time. Happy New Year everyone! We hope all  your dreams come true in 2011.

Introducing Scamper McWagglebottom the Squirrel to our store today, we hope you enjoy him. In the New Year we hope to add a few squirrels dressed in costumes like the mice.

Apologies for not posting on the blog the last few days, the Christmas rush has hit The House of Mouse in full force - which is wonderful - but it does not leave us much time to make posts to publish here. We hope you are enjoying the holiday season :)
